Coffee Klatch’s newest blend, Belle Espresso, scored as the highest rated espresso blend ever with a ‘94’ by cupping taste guru Kenneth Davids* of coffeereview.com. Davids described the espresso by Coffee Klatch Roasting as: Intense aroma: brandy, chocolate, caramel. In the small cup medium in body but smooth in mouthfeel, crisply pungent yet caramelly sweet, with a tightly knit, understated complexity: brandy, caramel, cedar and flowers, hints of which persist in the roundly rich finish. Masters milk with a gentle, brandied chocolate authority. Ken’s full review of Belle Espresso , and a great article about Boutique Espressos, can be found at www.coffeereview.com. For this tasting Ken tried 40 espresso’s and rated over 30. A search of the coffeereview web site found 176 reviews for espresso with the Belle Espresso on top. According to Green Coffee Buyer and Roastmaster Mike Perry, the blend was designed for competition at the Western Regional Barista Competition (a competition won by Coffee Klatch Director of Training and Consulting: Heather Perry). Mike describes this as a multi blend featuring both an Indonesian Sumatra and an Indian Malabar for body, a Guatemalan Hue Hey for sweetness, plus a Yellow Bourbon Brazil for even more sweetness and crema. Of course the bean featured in this blend is an Ethiopian Natural Yirgacheffe that adds the citrus you would expect from a Yirgacheffe and wonderful fruit you might not. All of the Klatch’s coffee can be ordered by phone or from our website: www.klatchroasting.com If you have any questions please feel free to call Klatch Roasting at 909-224-9452. *Kenneth Davids, coffee expert, and author, is co-founder of The Coffee Review.
