Our Experimental Espresso went through many changes as we perfected the blend that would become the 2008 US Competition Espresso .  At one point we brought it to Berkeley, CA to the Western Regionals where it was awarded "Best Espresso".  You may know it now as our "West's Best Spro ".  But we weren't quite finished with it.  Weeks of blending this and that and roasting to perfection created an espresso with spice, clean citrus, and a finish of chocolate and berry that we think is outstanding!

Klatch Scores 94 on their newest Brazil!
ImageThe results are in and Coffee Klatch has the highest-rated Brazil in this month's Coffee Review .  From Fazenda Boa Vista , this one has a wonderful spice and citrus, chocolate and  berry character.  The review noted it was:  "Balanced, complex, complete. The quiet but assertive acidity was praised as "balanced" by co-cupper Ted Stachura (93) and "sweet, rich, integrated" by Ken (94). The mouthfeel was "juicy" (Ted), the aroma and cup showed a crisply sweet complex of dry berry, cocoa, flowers, citrus, nut. Long, deep, chocolate-toned finish."

Customers Help Develop Winning Espresso Blend at WRBC

Coffee Klatch Roasting's Experimental Espresso #031 was awarded Best Espresso at the just concluded Western Regional Barista Competition held March 28 to 30th.

 Back in February, Heather and Roast Master Mike Perry started soliciting the help of their online customers to get feedback on some of their favorite coffees and espresso blends.  Heather and Mike used this feedback to modify and tweak the blends until they came up with Experimental Espresso #031, and while we're thrilled to have been judged "Best Espresso in the West",  the experiment is not over.  Our efforts continue as we search for the perfect blend.  Keep trying those blends and keep the feedback coming!
 
Help Create the Next Competition Espresso

Image As competition season approaches here at the Klatch we are preparing by continuing our search for the next great espresso, and this year, we want your help.

Now through April we will be selling an Experimental Espresso Blend and we want your feedback.  Every time you order a pound of the experimental blend you will get a bag with a batch number and nothing else. The blend will be everything from single estates, to single origins, to a blend with four or five origins.

Coffee Klatch Roasting anti-Starbucks promotion sparks nationwide free indie coffee uprising
